*"KIKUJIN"
This color was used only for the emperor’s daily clothing. “Kikujin” is said to have the similar color to the fish’s gills when they are shined by the sun. Only the emperor was allowed to wear this special kind of color. The thread used to make the cloth, the process that they are dyed, and the way they are weaved is finished in the highest technique and standard. They were made secretly and were not seen by the general public. These features are all necessary to make the perfect cloth. This is why “Kikujin” is used to weave clothing in Kyoto Nishijin.

Founded in 1764, our company has produced and distributed Buddhist rosaries (Juzu-bracelets) that cannot be found anywhere outside of Kyoto for more than 240 years.
As a venerable Kyoto business, having achieved remarkable success and gained the trust of our customers over many years, we not only carry out OEM of formal Buddhist rosaries in Japan but also offer planning and proposals. We have also developed long-term business relations with well-known department stores, as well as temples and specialist shops.
For example, we can propose designs for rosaries for Zen Buddhism, which boasts tens of millions of followers worldwide and encourages them to practice zazen. The number of Zen Buddhists has been on the rise. It is well known that Mr. Steve Jobs, the late founder of Apple Inc. of the United States, was deeply devoted to the religion. In recent years, we have established a unique position in the accessory segment, while manufacturing official bracelets for cartoon characters.
Today, we have crafted items that we would like to introduce to you.
Honors and awards:In our industry, we were the first recipient of the Award for Persons of Technical Merit in the Kyoto Traditional Industries. In 2006, we demonstrated the manufacturing process of our Buddhist rosaries at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the United States, as the first demonstrator in the traditional craft industry. In addition, we have been introduced as a venerable Kyoto business by a number of media sources.
